Concept for gods based on (a variant of) tribute rather than devotion. "This demands tribute N from a player" means "that player may place N +1/+1 counters on this to pay tribute to it".

Main features of tribute here are:

  • Tribute on an indestructible creature is more meaningful since its less likely to receive the counters and just get hit by removal right afterwards.
  • You can pay tribute to your own God to turn them on even if no player is forthcoming with help.
  • This is a Plankton card i. e. in multiplayer people are encouraged to pay tribute to not miss out on the "free" card draw.

See Bountiful Hydra.

Addendum: In the most recent edit I also changed the trigger from a land entering the battlefield to a player playing a land to conserve text space.
