also inspired by Yu-Gi-Oh, though I did a few cards that cared about multicolor in Okundwa so this doesn't feel so drastic.
Another card with Yu-Gi-Oh influence by giving the card two synchronized effects. think the card would probably be be just fine without the second ability though.
So I decided to sin and played a Yu-Gi-Oh game recently. The gameplay is reflected in card designs such as this one where I went into archetype support (which stampede needs as its parasitic).
added flavor text
changed to +4/+4 and deathtouch instead of +3/+3 and trample
Green definitely gets to remove -1/-1 counters: Heartmender and Quillspike. I think this is an acceptable area.
As a replacement effect, it exchanges instead of blocking. It should remain a trigger, but I like it triggering on blocking/being blocked. (Change "if" to "whenever.")
I've update Blemish to keep the idea in tact but should now trigger before damage is dealt.
You can only "exchange" something that still exists. If it blocks a 5/5, they just end up with a 5/5 with 2 damage on it--when the trigger resolves, there are no counters that can be exchanged, because this is already dead. Like I said, players are going to draw incorrect conclusions from the card and the whole mechanic, in droves.
No, but say you blocked a 5/5. A 3/3 is much more manageable than a 5/5.
For the blemish reminder text, it would save a line of text and I think read better if you change "move any counters from this creature to that creature and vice-versa" to "exchange all counters between them."
The Blemish mechanic seems like it's immensely susceptible to misplaying, with people thinking they'll be able to dump the counters on the blocker and survive even as this takes 2 damage itself in combat.
Most of the time, this is just going to end up as a bad 2/2, to the disappointment of pretty much everyone.
