Goblin artisans challenge, create an aggro-friendly dual land. Which I approve of, control decks shouldn't get all the mana fixing, aggro decks need it a lot more if they want to mix 1-drops.
(Although OTOH, if dual lands are as good as the original dual lands in the right deck, they almost might as well be the original dual lands: it's not like, if you're enabling aggro decks and control decks, there's any other decks you DON'T want to enable?)

Thanks. :)
Cool. Anydria is a good place for it :)
Oops! I accidentally copied this a little bit as Sylvan Rebirth.
Oops! No, the version I submitted was "Enchanted permanent is a forest land in addition to its other types. (It has Tap: add G to your mana pool.)" (Now edited.)
The other version would be "loses all abilities and is a forest land (instead of its other types)" which is so much simpler, but not sure if it's perfect.
But I accidentally copied a half-and-half version here which made no sense.
I think this rules text is actually equivalent to "loses all abilities" anyway. For the same reason that Spreading Seas works against Mutavault / Kessig Wolf Run etc.
So this is pretty similar to Utopia Vow, except hitting any permanent.
Oh, and I can't see any reason for the "can't attack or block" line if you're removing the type creature...

Challenge was "Design a card for this art whose rules text includes the words "can't" "don't" "doesn't" or "didn't" exactly twice."
I very nearly submitted Pacifism, but decided it was worth trying a green version that more explicitly turned a creature into a hillside. I wanted the green version to be worse than white removal (both pacifism/arrest and journey to nowhere/oblivion ring) but not strictly worse, so I made it hit all permanent types, but give the controller slight upside of G instead.
It's still a lot wordier than I liked, more like faith's fetters than pacifism. Not a staple common, alas, but green probably shouldn't get removal at common anyway. But no simpler version seemed to convey the same story.
I also considered it might be simpler to directly have "enchanted creature/permanent loses all abilities and is a forest land (instead of its existing types)" but (a.) it's a bit stronger because it removes static abilities and mana abilities and (b.) it didn't meet the terms of the challenge anyway.
Oh yes, those verdia mechanics are good. I remembered some good cards from the set, but I think when I first saw it I didn't know enough to appreciate good mechanics :)
I was looking for another card I think was in Verdia originally too.
Yeah, I think Earthform is fine rules-wise. Argh, I keep wanting to refer to Verdia, but all that's left of it online is scattered postings; I really need to import it into Multiverse! Verdia had a smoother form of this mechanic: fallingman describes it here.
It has the nice property that late in the game, when you want rid of land - it doesn't much help you. It only really helps to smooth out when you have a real glut of land - early on since it also uses up mana to use it. Late on, a big glut of land still kinda sucks - because how much help will a 1/1 be anyway?
I like Critterform in concept, but why assigna number to it? Does scaling the number make the token bigger, or add more tokens? If the token scales, is it (confusingly) of a different type? I don't think the tokens should have creature types. That, or the creature type should be more generic so that critterform can be used in different colors.
Someone on there parallel-designed my Sift mechanic, except that theirs exiles the card.
I do think the game could probably handle two types of facedown permanents, since, as you say, people tend to group their creatures and their lands. However, as written, this is mana acceleration for , since you're not using up your land drop to landform. Wizards has decided not to print colorless mana acceleration at less than .
Thank you!
Summary of challenge: Here's some art.
Design a card with a new smoothing mechanic (or a new twist on an old one): Something that helps players avoid losing games by drawing too much or too little of one card type. Bonus points for making a keyword or ability word that can be used on commons. You can also make an exciting/unique card that happens to smooth.
