I like unusual card types. So I was intrigued by Land Creatures. But Dryad Arbor was kind of a mess, both by being confusing and being very powerful. I tried to design simple Land Creatures for every color for this set. It has a theme with Fortifications, so why not put interesting lands in it? I wanted to make it more balanced, they are fetchable, because of their basic land type, but they enter the battlefield tapped. I have no idea if that makes them better or worse.
Red, in my opinion, isn't a very flexible color. It's very much reliant on dealing damage, either with Creatures or burn spells. But it is my favorite! Red supposedly represents creativity, emotion and fast thinking. But red has the fewest alternative win conditions! And those are my favorite to play! I designed a whole cube with only alternative win conditions: cubecobra.com/cube/list/1xrd That's why I created this card. It's supposed to show the creative side of red, thinking outside the box.
Of the Legendary Creatures in this set, this is my favorite! He's just a little guy! I really like Creatures with defender or 0 power, because it gives you opportunity to think outside the box.
Of the Legendary Creatures in this set, this my second favourite. I just like the idea of a thieving octopus. I really want to draw him, haha.
This might be too powerful. I think it might be balanced by it costing 5 mana, and that you have to still actually mill the opponent, but still. It gives you a lot of fodder for other Loot mechanics.
The back side of Shimmering Haunt is one half of a melded creature you can build with either Shimmering Highcloud Tower or Shimmering Freshwater Tunnel.
This is one half of a melded creature you can build with the back side of either Shimmering Presence or Shimmering Spook.
Did you know that percentage wise, blue has the most vehicles? If you go by percent, among artifacts that are blue, vehicles are the biggest group.
I really like the flavor here. I also like the idea of Vehicles with defender! It's a tricky design space, and I hope I made it work.
This blink effect might be too strong, especially since you can do it in an opponents turn.
I really like goats. Goats don’t actually eat metal, that's a myth, but I thought it'd be funny to have that as an anti Loot mechanic.
