Ha. The Card Comparisons thread points out one more argument for this being viable: Emblazoned Golem. Yes, in a monocolour deck, Emblazoned Golem works like Copper. If you can produce two or more colours of mana, it's pretty close to strictly better than Copper. It's only in a sufficiently colourless deck that having no coloured mana by turn 3 is a significant risk where you'd ever prefer Copper. Unless you cared about the creature type Policeman or the awesome pun in this version, of course :P

That thing is awesome. I'm a bit annoyed that Wizards designed that card before I did, evidently, and is publishing it after I designed it for Magic 20XD6. But I can't really complain. They got the flavor perfectly.

Also, compare to Oona, Queen of the Fae. I'd probably argue that it may be a bit underpowered. This would make some interesting problems when you have too much mana. Paying and tapping it would probably be a terrible idea. It is unlikely that the extra 5 mana would give you much more than 1 extra thrull... but you'd be knocking large swathes of cards out of your deck in the process.

I think they were banned in Standard and Block until they left the environment, but were never banned in Extended. The Affinity deck was the principal reason for them being banned; I'm hoping I can avoid anything that degenerate, so "rehabilitate" the concept of artifact lands.
