Well, this being an enchantment makes it rather tough to deal with. One could always one-shot kill that player, but I assume that any deck that's packing this card already has 8 Wrath of God effects in it. So if I don't have instant speed boost or direct damage, and I don't have enchantment destruction, and I can't put out, say 10 damage of unstoppable creatures approximately once every 6-7 turns (the amount of time it would take to draw into another Wrath effect), then I'm trapped in a hard-soft lock.
I know everyone likes to think of 7 mana as being in the category of "no tournament player would like this unless it ended the game immediately," but... I think this ends many games immediately. Or, to put it another way, I think I'd rather hard cast this, in a deck set up to abuse it, than I'd want to cast Platinum Emperion, and that card costs
more.
But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is fair. I do find it funny, though, that this ability could be slapped on like a 6/6 creature and it would be worse... oh, hey... Blazing Archon. Don't people play that card, even though it costs 9? And the effect seems a bit similar to me... this card is weak to all out attack, but the Archon fails to direct damage. Again, I have no idea if this is fair or not... I'm more talking food for thought.
Like dude1818 said, I think it's fine for the cost. It's actually not that different from Eternity Vessel, except that it's much more reliable.
It kind of turns you into a creature, in that damage wears off at end of turn. Lethal damage still kills. On the other hand, life loss effects are permanent, as is any damage dealt on your turn (though that can be negated by Personal Sanctuary). I think it's fine.
Something like Boon Reflection with this would be obscene.
Each opponent, or just one? This is a really large amount of lifegain; but then, it's a really costly card so that may be ok.
This would be really frustrating to play against though; even though it's usually slightly worse than "You cannot lose the game".
Based on the rules text used on other cards, "can't" is the proper way to write the first ability instead of "cannot." Otherwise, unchanged.
Changed the second ability to reflect rules templating for blocking additional creatures. Otherwise, unchanged.
I realized the first ability isn't useful until you spend 4 red mana, so I changed it from X to X+1.
This one seems nice and stompy. Expensive to activate, but stompy enough that you probably don't care too much. A surprisingly tricky to use invincible sword princess.

Added "and"
Added rarity...drrr.
I think I'll leave it as is for now and when I get the whole set list finished this is going to be one of the cards I look at to see where the mana curve distribution needs to be smoothed out.
I imagine this would be fine at
sorcery. Or if you want it at
, it'd probably be okay as an instant.
There are plenty of modern common cantrips (including one
cantrip), so "
, draw a card" is fine (as instant or sorcery). The question is, how often will you achieve 5-threxhileold; if that's quite likely, then costing this at 1U is probably better, if that's quite rare, U is more interesting.
Comparing this to Visions of Beyond makes me think this can cost just
, though of course, Visions of Beyond is a rare.
Spells that basically just do "draw a card" are commonly called cycling, even though the keyword isn't features in most sets. Cheap cycling effects can be dangerous, simply because the cost of putting them in a deck can be so cheap. But at 1U sorcery speed, I don't think this could be a problem.
I think the life swing is enough to make this card distinctive, it would be fine with typical "big black mythic creature" stats (typically big and flying or trample).
I don't think there's a need to make the stats more unique, but I don't know anything about the character -- if there's anything that would be appropriate, I agree it would be better. And I agree making it reasonably able to attack is good.
Ok; this is ALREADY stealing 5+ life per opponent in set (assuming they go for memory; it being the set's thing) and is very hard to kill and kills off whatever blocks it?
I don't expect first strike would make a huge amount of difference, few opponents will be able to muster 8 points of first strike.
At 1 power it would only block (or the opponent would just leave it unblocked). Which might be a bit of a dull reward for an ETB creature. At 4 power, the opponent is likely to block it (and you already stole life ...)
Maybe Power equal to cards in exile? Though that might be too good.
Personally, I'd leave it unless it's really not fitting your flavour.
Its rules text could also be written:
Cycling
- Memory - Draw a card. (Pay
, discard ~, draw a card; if there are five or more cards in exile, draw an additional card.)
(I mean - don't write it that way; it's horrible - just showing the equivalence with cycling.)
Not saying it's a bad thing, as I said, other card draws exist. Just a thing to maybe be careful that it doesn't go horribly horribly infinite on you.
@Vitenka I could go with a more top-down design and reduce its power to 1, but give it first strike or something. What do you think of that? A 1/8 first strike, deathtouch? It sort of feels more like a wall that way, but the enemy in the anime didn't really move all that much so it kind of fits...not sure if it's mythic material, though.
@Vitenka "Cycling from hand" ...what? There's no cycling here. My idea was to make something similar to Accumulated Knowledge... not quite so strong, but 2 cards for 2 mana is better than Inspiration and this is at sorcery speed.
Eight toughness deathtoucher seems plenty solid enough to me.
Ok, the ETB ability is ramped up now, but the body still isn't particularly interesting. Any suggestions?
