You know, on second thought, these guys are a Legendary 6cc creature. I don't think I mind breaking the rules a little, since it's such a straightforward rare, that doing a little something to make it awkward seems good. Plus, ignoring the rules of society is what these two guys do. Magic can support this sort of rule breaking on a very rare occasion, let's do it here.
It should be target, but I did think of leaving it alone for a second. This is a pretty nasty pairing, and I wouldn't put it past them.
Thank you. Fairies and Shapeshifters are an odd pair, eh? I was hoping that Lorwyn would make them abiently feel together, but I don't think they do. It's okay, though, since Fairie is just a temporary place holder until I get a proper creature type with a lot of Flash. Elemental would probably be a better choice, since another creature is triggering off that anyway, and we can see a Shapeshifter, Elemetal connection clearer (and, thanks to Lorwyn, many have Flash). Switching over.
Intriguing!
"Return A creature"?! Evil! Is that deliberate, or should it be "target creature"?
Reminds me of Halcyon Glaze. "Shapeshifter or a Fairy" is a somewhat confusing pairing. (Also, FWIW, Wizards spell it "Faerie", and you need "spell" in the trigger condition.)
Yeah, it does do a fair Standstill impression (albeit, much more expensive). I pushed the black a little harder on purpose, but I could see some players following this up with very splashable cards (like Fireball) or artifacts. Still, that is a scary drawback, eh? I'm still not sold if the card would be fun to play, but I'd definitely give it a shot.
Wow, I'm not at all sure who comes out ahead with this. If the opponent is at all ahead, they can lock you out of the game for several turns. On the other hand, you will quickly decimate their mana base.
Also scary as a reanimation target (but then lots of things are).
Random Generator gave me Lifeforce and Demonic Hordes. Another color-hoser, which sadens me, but swinging it so the caster gets hosed seems fair. Pro tip: In group games, Sleight of Mind the word black on Demonic Force to a color you would like your opponents to be countering.
Random Generator gave me Tibor and Lumia and Zuran Enchanter. I just got done saying that I should do only opposite color gold cards, then this happened. How can I resist having a tag team of two evil blue ice age villains? How Can I RESIST?!!
Random Generator gave me Sparkmage Apprentice and Steadfastness. I could have made it an instant, but for some reason, I like this not as a trick. Besides, at instant it might be an uncommon, but it's clearly a common at sorcery.
Red/White is the clear leader in gold cards, so far, creating 5 of them. Next is Red/Green with 3, then Black/Red and White/Black with 2. I can see why R/W has gotten a number of gold cards, though, since some card combinations yell both Attack! and Defend! at the same time (or Burn! and Heal! You get the idea). I'm thinking that when I'm done, maybe I'll try to make all multicolored cards be enemies only, since there should be a fair number of enemies that can't be solved, but most allies should be able to figure it out for themself. Don't know.
Random Generator gave me Island and Jade Idol. Island color shifts the Idol blue. If the idol was any color to begin with, it was probably blue, so there wasn't much work to do with color shifting it. Still, I figured, adding another layer of functionality wouldn't hurt, so now your 4/4 creature can turn back into an enchantment, if you can toss out another Fairy or Shapeshifter (Difficult to do, I know). I chose Fairies, since their the most likely to have flash, and Shapeshifters because, well, this is a Shapeshifter.
