Three of these Core Set creatures are simple vanillas, and then there's these two. Couldn't you use Plague Beetle or Dross Crocodile or something?
If I could go back in time, I'd probably use different creatures. But these are the 5 common creatures in the Magic 20XX Timeshifted slot that get drafted into your sideboard and are wished out. It's made even worse, because there are crazy rares that reveal multiple copies of these 5 creatures from your sideboard and do crazy things with them. When I chose these 5, I wasn't planning on them being on a flip card, I'll tell you that much... but I wanted something that would spice things up. They don't look too bad on Splits, but it was brought to my attention that Splits don't do that. sigh.
I'm letting this sit for now. I know it isn't the best looking thing out there, but I'm hoping that these cards become so common when drafting that people don't even bother reading the text... they just know what they do. It's funny. In Magic 20XX, these 5 cards are all about 5-6th draft pick. I've had friends pass on early Mons' Goblin Raiders, assuming they'd table... but, no... no they don't.
Besides, the crocodile is too strong. People actually play that thing in draft. ;-P
I'm going to be starting 20XD6 drafts soon, and this card looked terrilbe. Double-Faced cards to the rescue! I'm perfectly aware that this is not how Double-Faced cards work, and that players shouldn't be able to 'see' the other side of the card. I'm cheating. We'll leave it at that. Personally, I kind of wished that Wizards did it this way from the beginning. It kind of stinks that they decreased functionality of the cards to prevent people from cheating reanimation targets. If players want to cheat a huge creature into play, they're going to do it anyways. They didn't need the other side of your double-faced cards to make that broken.
