Probably needs stupid templating; because I think the way round you've got it now it gets revealed (to prove it's a creature) before the opponent has to guess the name :)

But I like it. Annoyingly hard to use some of the time; but sometimes sneaky. But... you can get "Search for any creature" as cheap as {g}{w}, so maybe this could be even cheaper?

Thank you!

I think revealing what you searched for doesn't happen automatically, rather, it's always spelled out on the card (eg. here the card always goes OTB or into the graveyard). But I'm not 100% sure.

And you can get search, but "OTB" is more powerful than "into your hand".

It is always spelled out - but I think it gets done. But yes, you're right; getting the cast for free too is pretty strong.

Should be "Otherwise, put it into your graveyard." Which, by the way, is quite powerful.

Oh but you still have to control a creature with that name, so it's not so bad.

I like it. This templating does work, because every possible destination is a public zone; so the card will be revealed eventually.

Search-onto-battlefield is very strong, but restricting it to match a creature you have is much weaker: Mask of the Mimic, Pack Hunt.

Unlike those two, this doesn't target - it obviously can't. So if your opponent kills/bounces all your creatures in response, tough luck. And if they get you down to 1 card, that'll mean they can guarantee your searched card goes into the graveyard.

Does it matter if the creature is one that's better in the graveyard than the battlefield? Probably not.

Would it be better like this?

> Search your library for a creature card and exile it face down. An opponent guesses that card's name. If it shares a name with a creature you control but the opponent guessed wrong, put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise put it into your graveyard. Then shuffle your library.

The difference being you can choose to use this as a one-card Buried Alive if you find a creature that doesn't share a name with something you control.

Or maybe I should have made a "reanimate a card in your graveyard unless your opponent can guess which" spell. Although there's a big gap between "reanimate some card" and "reanimate a specific card you built a deck around".
