There are a couple of other Sakashima planeswalkers on Multiverse - Sakashima the Deceiver and Sakashima, the Pretender - and naturally they play with imitating other planeswalkers, but there isn't this simplest form.

I wondered about it after the discussion on Primordial Soup, and I think it's perfectly printable, but as a card that only works if there's a mythic rare on the battlefield it's pretty niche (and curiously possibly not suitable for mythic itself).

There is Imnamon, Copycat, though of course that's not actually Sakashima.

Ah, so there is (and it links to another one, Clonewalker). I did do a couple of searches, but it looks like I missed the precise turn of phrase needed to find that one.

I'm not sure. In theory, it seems neat, but {2}{u}{u} isn't the most attractive cost for another copy of one of your planeswalkers, not to mention you need to have it at the perfect moment. Copying opponent's planeswalkers is much more powerful but much more narrow.

I'd give it the Hero's Downfall treatment and make it copy either a creature or a planeswalker.

personally i don't have an issue with a card being that narrow at rare. i agree that it's only going to shine in certain archetypes, but with everyone clamoring to make superfriends decks a card like this could easily find a home. as long as it has a home i think it's fine, although there's certainly nothing wrong with adding your suggestion.

Mm, yes, the Hero's Downfall idea of cloning either a creature or a planeswalker is much likely to be printed.

Yeah, there has to be something like this. I also like the "creature or planeswalker" approach, because it's still splashy to be able to copy planeswalkers, but it's less niche, when a "copy planeswalker" spell might rarely work.

And also, I think it's odd to have a non-mythic planeswalker card, IIRC wizards avoid that for flavour reasons, and if it copied creatures as well, it might seem less of an exception.

"cloning either a creature or a planeswalker is much likely to be printed" - Or maybe Wizards will go one step beyond that and just print Clever Impersonator.
