Mostly yuck; but I guess kinda abusable with cheap artifacts?
It's also a horribly trivial way to activate metalcraft and affinity; but those were already horrible broken mechanics, so I guess that's ok.
Rather than have worthless artifact tokens, it might be worth having it ETB with X counters, and allow you to sacrifice artifacts to get more counters.
I actually made this win the idea that they would be fodder for annihilator.
Hm. But if you're taking a hit from an Eldrazi, aren't you going to lose even if you can avoid the annihilator sac for one turn?
Usually; not always. Sometimes you're close to a win yourself and a turn of tempo is all you need. Does seem a pretty niche consideration though.
Personally, I think the idea of forcing an Elder God to step on a bunch of marbles before I Neck Snaped him to be pretty funny.
