This was originally just going to be Ogre Geargrabber that flung the equipment/contraption when it was done, but I though it would be interesting to have it be able to fling all artifacts you lose. Since an artifact going to the graveyard counts as losing control, I tacked on the cost to make it less broken. This triggers off every creature in the set, making it better than Blood Artist in many ways. If it only hit creatures, I wouldn't need to worry about how much damage it deals.
Wow. Pretty mythic effect.
I think the rules are okay with you replacing loss of control with some other leaves-the-battlefield effect. This would get very odd with Tajuru Preserver though. I think the net result is that opponents' kill spells, bounce spells etc just fail to work (if you pay the ).
There is a subtle rules problem, though: you can't target in replacement effects. You could perhaps go the Words of War route and make this an activated ability that sets up a replacement effect.
made activated ability
With this new wording, it's Flechette Thrower's ability that makes you sacrifice, so Tajuru Preserver doesn't grant immunity any more. Of course, you could target the same artifact multiple times with this, but only the top instance on the stack would deal damage (I think).
I'm not so sure about that. This is still setting up a replacement effect. So it's still the opponent's spell that gets modified into making you sac.
E.g.:
Which is fine... I think. It's certainly no worse than the several mechanics on Multiverse named "anchor" or similar saying "~ can't leave the battlefield."
I liked "~ cannot tap" which I think was in your set :)
Imperturbable Guardian, yep :)
