You know, I rather like this idea for a setting. Done poorly, it would get monotonous... but with care, it could be rather fascinating.

On the subject of a 'clock' with a spark. I almost like the idea of Venser stumbling upon this plane, exploring it, finding the clock that has a spark, and finding out that the clock seems completely uninterested in its godlike power. It still just sees itself as a cog in the machine, and operates as such. Kind of like if Harry Potter was told he was a wizard, and Harry didn't care, and said that he was fine being a Dursley, thank you very much.

Listen, I could just riff off of that for 4 or 5 more paragraphs, but this is your story to tell however way you want to tell it, so I'm not. The fact that I've got so much fuel for this setting, though, is a good guage that it's a good setting, no matter what you want to do.

Thought of a new mechanic that would be interesting in a set like this: scrap tokens. The simplest version would sacrifice to put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. That could go in any set, really. However, with clockwork as the main mechanic for the set, I kinda like the idea of being a single target proliferate instead. Creatures with +1/+1 counters already would get another one, but you could also put charge counters on noncreature artifacts or whatever sillier things you want in larger formats.

Dude1818 I assume you got that idea from my set? Considering I’ve had Scrap tokens that have {1}, {t}: Put a +1/+1 counter on target artifact creature. Since 2022. Not mad but I’d rather you not say you thought of it yourself.

Nope, I don't recall seeing it from your set. I suppose it's possible I saw it a while ago and forgot. I first made Scrap tokens for this card (Ship of Kynaios and Tiro), and then worked backwards to figure out what they do

Ah, ok. Great minds think alike :)
