Since you don't pay for the creature card, the first obvious precious to consider is Darksteel Relic.
Precious does say legendary artifact. The boring option other people have suggested is mox opal
And I should have mentioned, precious is not my mechanic. It's on the new heroes of the realm card Ormacar, Relic Wraith

Ormacar showcases a great option to balance the ability though: Care about the mana value of the Precious - you could even care about the mana spent to cast the precious instead to benefit from commander tax a little.
What, something like "As an additional cost to cast your Precious, you may exile a creature card from your graveyard with mana value less than or equal to the amount of mana spent to cast it."?
