Welcome back! Last week we added Brand counters to the database, and I wanted to see if we could make another interesting creature with Brand counters. This card admittedly color pie bends. Originally, this was a 5/5 green creature... but I had to admit that the combination of odd card draw and brand counters was a little too much of a pie bend. I've been holding back on the black cards because there was too many of them in the file, but maybe we can toss one in just this once.

But what is the card's name? And what is its creature type?

Name: Scar-Taker

Creature Type: Aetherborn Mercenary

Flavor Text: Even after being driven to dark deeds in order to find meaning in its short life, this creature preserves a sense of humanity by paying the price of its sins, with scars that mark its being to the very core

I know this card doesn't fit the classic idea of {b} being the color of "Amorality" (not believing in morality, more or less), but I still think there is a lot of possibilities for a philosophy which is 'I have done immoral things. I acknowledge that. I am willing to face retribution for my stained soul'

NGL, I stole this from a South Korean Manhwa called 'Dimensional Mercenary'. On top of being fun, it's one of the best explorations of morality I've read from the medium. Another, 'SSS-Class Suicide Hero' has one of the most heartwarmingly tragic stories I've ever seen (the main character is on a new level of self-sacrifice), on top of being unbelievable funny and entertaining!

Ooh, that concept is very moving!

I'll try:

Rakdos Painmonger
Creature - Minotaur Rogue
Art: Big back alley Minotaur wearing sleeveless leather jacket. Covered in dramatic and painful looking tattoos, piercings, and branding scars. Weilding equipment to inflict same. Vibe of "let's see if I get broke or bored first"
Flavour text: "it sounds much less scary in French"

Adding a third poll option before time runs out:

Name: Branding Demon

Creature: Demon Warlock

Right under the wire. ;)

Froggy wins this week with Scar-Taker. There isn't enough room for the flavor text, but I'm going to presume there's an alternate art version floating around out there with no reminder text and the flavor text added. ;)

See everybody in (((NTC #079)))!

Hurray :)
