Mechanics

Apex: Used on 0 cards:

Apex creatures follow the same rules as Legendary creatures, except you may only control one Apex creature at a time. This is designed to keep the idea of an Apex creature from MH Rise where one creature is leagues above the power level of a base monster, but are more violent and territorial as well (usually). I've included it to give the idea that these are really powerful creatures akin to Legendaries but with an added limitation, allowing players to use these creatures as commanders if wanted.

Rage: If a creature with Rage would take damage, it takes 2 damage instead. Used on 0 cards:

To reinforce the enrage mechanic in the games, most creatures will have an added effect if Rage has to be attained. This effect is a double edged sword depending on the situation, and can really make taking down the monster a feat in some decks. As of now, I think every creature with Rage is either Legendary or Apex.

In card text or details pages, write the mechanic's code name (playtest name) between square brackets, like "[Crittercast]", "[Bushido 1]" or "[Delay 4 {2}{R}{R}]". It will be expanded to the mechanic's name plus reminder text, such as "Suspend 4 – {2}{r}{r}. (Rather than cast this spell from your hand,...)"
To expand a mechanic's name but not its reminder text, include parentheses at the end of the square brackets: "[Crittercast()]", "[Delay 9 {R}()]".
