I don't think it's such a bad idea. But I do think that idea makes more sense if multiple cards in the same set made 'swords' in a variety of ways. That way, you cut on the mental space that each sword-maker creates.
This feels like avery natural - but bad - idea. Token equipment is just going to be painful to keep track of.
I'd suggest instead capturing the feeling via: 1, Remove a +1/+1 token from a creature you control: Put a +1/+1 token on a creature you control; only as a sorcery.
And yuck needing the 'only as a sorcery' part; but it really does, doens't it?
It's basically a card that's been printed twice before - Parapet / Lumithread Field - but both of those had a random other ability. It's fine for common (and the cost is spot on).
I'd normally rather have Veteran Armorer, of course.
