Calix is drawn to aid Sigarda in a moment of need by a sense of foreboding. After preventing the angel's death to a demon's attack he realizes a secret force working on the world to change its destiny from the predetermined path.
His efforts to counteract the unseen influence inadvertently cause him to side with the angels that also ally with Elspeth.
