:)
Heh. Thanks for the thoughts. I think treating this as Divination plus Artful Dodge makes 4 mana seem reasonable, and a bit more sensible than 3.
I'm thinking I'll put together some playtest decks and bring them to GamesEvening at some point (not for a few weeks - I still need keyword mechanics for two factions), and at that point we can see how the Gambits play; but I agree, I think it'll be playable at 3U.
Oops, I was just about to say that you persuaded me this was ok -- after all there was Mulldrifter, just like Rampant Growth has Sakura Tribal-Elder :) Your last comment made me realise I was more worried about it being too swingy, than too strong, but that since you always have to work for the bonus it might well be ok.
OTOH, this is certainly plenty good at 3U, the whole cycle don't have to be pushed to the limit.
4 mana
It might be good to avoid obsoleting Divination if possible. One option is to make this 4 mana, so it's a slow Inspiration or expensive Divination unless you can make the gambit pay off, at which point it's still a cheaper Tidings (which is possibly dubious at common). But as Jack said, the opponent can always refuse the gambit unless you have a trick of some kind.
Thank you for taking up the idea! I like how it looks on the real cards (though I don't know for sure if it will work out).
I am a little worried about cards better-than-rampant-growth and better-than-divination and double-lightningbolt, but OTOH, they usually won't be, unless you have a trick they're strictly worse than "base effect plus target creature is unblockable" which is nice enough to want it, but is quite a small bonus rider.
common
So basically, at the start of your turn, draw an extra card; in exchange, all your lands ETB tapped?
Seems potent, but not massively unfairly so.
Not quite as big; but with that ability, you're hardly going to be using it to attack.
I suppose this should cost 6 mana since it's effectively Visara the Dreadful with haste
Bands with other geassed creatures.
Well, you did say any... ;)
