The mechanical synthesis of Brainstorm and cards like Glimmer of Genius. Considered making an Instant, but that seemed a touch too powerful.
A reprint for Limited, another example of a card to showcase blue as an aggressive archetype.
Similar to many other cards blue has access to in all formats, this does not tap the creature but keeps it tapped for a low price and at instant speed. For this reason, it is easier to play around than most removal auras as it doesn't necessarily require enchantment removal to break.
Part of the 'Realm' cycle. This is a new spin on the old classic 'Cancel with upside', it becomes Counterspell when dealing with decks with greedy manabases (especially those that ramp) that have become increasingly popular across all formats.
A reprint for Pioneer, this gives blue decks a decision to make between Opt and a sorcery-speed cantrip.
Templated from Frost Lynx et al, this is an example of the more aggressive role blue creatures take in this set.
I like the idea of making White-Red all about combat-oriented decisions. This exemplifies the dual offensive/defensive nature of White as an aggressive color, while also familiarizing newer players with the idea of considering pros/cons of playing spells during the first main phase vs the second.
A reprint to bring the card into Pioneer and related formats, as well as having use in Limited. Walls tend to be pretty bad, so the lack of opportunity cost makes this a playable uncommon.
Already in most formats, this is a reprint for use in Limited.
A reprint for Pioneer and related formats, and a useful sideboard card against excessive creature aggro/burn strategies.
Templated from cards like Hunted Witness and Doomed Traveler.
A combination of Torpor Orb and Authority of the Consuls - considered making a Leyline but keeping at
for now. Torpor Orb is too expensive to be useful, especially on the draw. Authority of the Consuls is a bit too narrow to be useful, though it has found recent popularity in Historic due to the abundance of powerful haste creatures.
A reprint from Dark Ascension - a spell used to teleport the citizens of Flavia to safety during the fateful siege. This would bring the card into Pioneer and related formats.
Part of a Pauper-playable cycle to combat the use of free spells, an unfair mana advantage afforded to some colors/archetypes.
