I took Alex's advice and increased its draw capability (added over because the drawback is significantly worse than Sign in Blood's). I don't like the wording of the last effect though.
Oh; hah - good point. You're only drawing the card you would have drawn had you not put this card in your deck. And since it has no positive side effect...
For some reason I thought this hung around.
Complete brainfart on my part. It's still a very black thing to do - but you're right, it could stand to be a more useful powerful effect now.
Oh, that's a good common. Useful effect, especially on attack; but not so dominant it can't be dealt with, because it's an attack trigger on a non-evasive 1/1. Very printable.
Only tweak I'd suggest is to make the effect end at end of turn, rather than hosing your own regenerating blockers as well.

Yes, I should change the wording of Extort. While toughness reduction is not a significant thing in Eluim, I do have more plans for damage and frequency of it that separates brittle from a toughness of 1.

Good point noyahuid. Also, the other mechanic doesn't really work with the rules because you don't specify a timing. You need to say when the cards are drawn. My suggestion is "Draw a card whenever a creature blocks this creature.". I think that would mean you get the trigger first thing in the declare blocker phase.

I get the impression this has pronoun problems. Hey, Sorrow! Is 'He or She' supposed to be 'You (Understood)'?

Umm... "Draw 1 card" is not "powerful". Every colour gets 1-mana cantrips: Aphotic Wisps is better than this in 3 ways!
If this was "Draw 2 cards" for 2 mana, then it'd be an interesting alternative to Sign in Blood.
Powerful. A very flavourfully black powerful (advantage now, bad side later) but powerful.

How often will 'brittle' be different from having a toughness of 1? Are -x/-x effects prevalent enough to need introducing a new keyword? :)
