Good idea. How's this?
Whenever a land ETBs under your control, if you have five or more cards in hand, put a 2/2 blue Spren enchantment creature token OTB.
I know it is a little odd with the second ability, but we already have the 2/2 token on a blue common. Come to think of it, p/t switches are normally in
, so maybe we have the activated ability give spren hexproof? The cost could stay the same.
So, I'm thinking about chasing the ETBs ability to something that aligns more with our GU "hand matters" archetype.
That's perfect. Not sure the name matches anymore, but we can fix that later.
You're right, but I would also say that a
Antagonize enabler is more important. How about going with a mono-red version?
Monstrous Vision

Creature - Elemental Nightmare
Haste, trample
When ~ ETBs, each player sacrifices a land.
At the beginning of your end step, sacrifice ~.
7/5
And then fit a
parshendi and a
artifabrian in at rare?
Before you make the change, do you have any suggestions to fill the BR rare slot in this set? We could easily do a UR artificer, to help with the artifact archtype those colors are supposed to have.
So, a thought for the eventual Elantris set: Sorceries and instants matter theme, with Splice onto Arcane?
That would be perfect, a bit of fateseal hosing.
Sounds good. We'll do the aura in WoR. Too bad Bestow doesn't work with lands...
Actually, maybe we could make this a fateseal hate card: Whenever an opponent fateseals, scry 1 at the beginning of the next end step? It fits the flavor of using arcane knowledge to avoid the destruction fated by a highstorm, and is good to avoid the "unfun" play of fateseal.
Bears are normally green and clearly not blue in coloration, but Phantasmal Bear works because it's an illusion of a bear. If blue is the color of Illusions and dreams on Roshar, as we established with the Surges, this could be a blue Illusion easily, or maybe Izzet. Something like:
Monstrous Vision

Creature - Elemental Horror Illusion
Haste, trample
When ~ ETBs, each player sacrifices a land.
Whenever ~ becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it.
7/4
I do like the aura idea, maybe put it in WoR? Or Oathbringer?
Okay.
This is fine, the creature still deals the damage.
Well, I'm worried about fateseal being too powerful, and add a bit more scry. What if we do this?
Why, though? The creature is a voidbringer made of rock. Dalinar saw a vision of one of them, but the actual monsters are clearly red color.
You gave me an idea, however, what if instead, we did an aura with enchant land, and turned a mountain into a Tunderclast?
So, my reasoning behind having the creature deal the damage, is like you provoking the target with the spell, and the target going on a rampage as a result. Like Kaladin taunting the Parshendi with the mutilated armor of their comrades, and them all focusing their rage on him. The wording is confusing, which is why I put it at uncommon, instead of common. It might be complicated enough to warrant a slot at rare.
4/25/16: 2/2 to 3/1 to push Devout archetype, better balance toughness- and power- heavy creatures at common.
4/25/16: Player --> creature or player for balance.
The simultaneous wording was confusing.
How about doing a blue illusion elemental for that? A thunderclast with the illusion sac ability.
I kinda liked it as a fateseal helper, but this works.
Nah. Fun though, limited playable.
What do you think of this? Too powerful?
