Yeah, Mischievous Poltergeist is one of my favorite cards, but part of that is how really, really good it is to be able to have the option to regenerate even if you are tapped out.
Thematically it makes a lot of sense though, so if I put this into a set I'll probably experiment with some life costs.
That was my question - you get a discount and to use it immediately if you settle. The downside being not getting the body and having to effectively give up 1 mana to use it each turn.
I don't understand the question. Militia Recruiter is affected by summoning sickness after you cast it.
The settled land is affected by summoning sickness... if it is a creature as well for some reason. In this way this is not different from Squirrel Nest.
Speaking of which... this needs some cost increase. Maybe add a mana cost to the activated ability.

Potentially: "When ~ dies, if it was attacking, destroy target blocking creature."
No longer optional. Encourages offense.
2/1? Randomness?

Yeah, that seems pretty nifty lfavour-wise.
I would be much happier with a Mischievous Poltergeist variant. It isn't considered too strong these days, right?
Plus "paying life" matches perfectly for a Vampire Cleric.

Huh. Is it intentional that settling bypasses summoning sickness?
