I believe that last little bit is commonly templated as "each opponent's turn".
Switched it up a little to better reflect a guy that works hidden away in a secret part of a hospital.
What if it had Shroud and the flavor text would be, "How do we get it to stop?"
They could return all land target Player controls to their hand. That would be both blue and red; blue is bounce, red is land denial...
Then I suppose I could make the proposed swap effect the middle "minus". That would set up me giving you a land for your bomb, followed by me bouncing your lands and getting mine back.
That said, with burn and bounce tricks up your sleeve, it's still Mind Control on turn 4.
I suppose I could replace the last ability with a trade trick. I give you crap and take your best permanent; i.e. I buy you a cheap beer and take your girl.
Actually, I think permanent could work on the last two. Nolan's got a fair point; with the potential for craploads of permanents on the board, you could be rolling a D20 to resolve it. Still, I think people may be disappointed to get ready to steal something and only get a forest.
As far as "narrow" goes, perhaps this is way more "Johnny/Timmy" than "Spike". I know that you (Dan) particularly hate facing Planeswalkers and think that using them is sort of a cheap play. This might be the PW that makes far more sense in casual play, which I don't know has really happened yet.
...I'm not quite sure how the wording here is meant to work. It's got the classic "Whenever damage would be dealt" mis-wording which is halfway between a triggered ability ("Whenever") and a replacement ability ("would be"). Static replacement abilities can't target, but I can't quite see a natural understanding of how a triggered version of this is meant to work.
Yes, the Nomads en-Kor ability would be one way to answer that. It's obviously fine for activated abilities to target.
Permanent would be increasing the random pool way too much.
I know reading it might seem weird but I can only think of it saying "another" artifact.
I really like the flavor of it. I imagine it's that enough cultures or minds or whatever got together that the result in this instance is the convenient access to any color mana.
Just out of curiosity what happens if two creatures have this enchantment and they keep redirecting back and forth forever?
Isn't this basically the same as the Kor ability? I must have wondered about this before, I used to love Kor.
So I guess that begs the question, "Is it worth giving this another ability?" Flying, with the stipulation that the artwork show a machine hovering over a scrap pile?
KCI isn't banned, and restricting the mana for artifacts only means you can't loop to build up game-ending Fireballs or whatever one would do.
More like Krark-Clan Ironworks. I suspect Wizards wouldn't want to print another KCI, but I could be wrong. I guess they printed Grand Architect which is somewhat similar.
Yeah, I really can't imagine this is breaking anything that Metalworker and Mishra's Workshop haven't already broken to tiny little bits.
And in non-Legacy formats, Affinity decks have already won or burnt out by the time they hit 5 mana.
But Sharuum EDH will love this to supplement Ashnod's Altar for more stupid combos.
