If I made the cost then it would be a filter for when you are stuck without enough red - to and you get to draw a card - not mana acceleration anymore but it might be more balanced.
Huh. I like the card, but I can't see any reason why you wouldn't play 4x of this card in mono-red. In fact, if you allowed me to, I'd put 20x of this card in my deck. Roughly, this card reads:
Cast Mishra's Bauble, except you don't look at a random card, but instead add one mana to your pool. Also, draw the card right now instead of the beginning of the next upkeep. You can't cast this spell on round one.
Seems much, much better than Lotus Petal. You don't get a color of your choice... but who wouldn't play a Lotus Petal that added colorless and drew you card when played?
Seething Song is banned in Modern, not Standard. I have no idea what that means, though... if they don't plan to revisit the card ever is beyond me. I know they stopped printing Seething Song, though, in... 9th edition? Wow... I guess it's only ever been reprinted once. It's just everybody's go-to.
In a way, toll roads are an expression of insufficient government, not too much government. So the answer may not be "an azorius bureaucrat" but "any gruul minotaur who has a club and happens to see an easy mark" :)
I like it. It seems an obvious size for this ability that (I think?) hasn't been printed before.
