Original Card: Serra Paladin
-
Changed name to make this card plural.
-
Moved from common to uncommon
-
Changed from activation of Samite Healer to all creatures you control get Samite Healer's ability.
- Removed the tap symbol and changed activated ability from "target creature gains Vigilance" to "Creatures you control have vigilance."
Note: In my original version, I tried to scale this back to be a Order of Leitbur variant. It wasn't working.
I couldn't find a version of this card that I really liked. Vigilance and Samite Healer together is kind of cute. That's why Militant Monk was made, after all. Something about turning this into a Militant Monk kind of bothered me, though. Not sure why.
So, instead, I tried to create a card that was reminiscent of Order of Leitbur. Though, I think I overshot with both abilities. Not sure. I thought this card would be easy, but I can see I'm going to monkeying with it quite a bit before I give up on it.
What a pain this creature gave me, and how easy a switch it was when I realized this guy could just be a Samite lord. Kind of weird that he isn't a Cleric... but you probably wouldn't want him in a Cleric deck anyway.
I do wonder if this suddenly became overpowered. I don't think so... you would think that Samite Healer ≤ Ghost Warden, so granting the Samite ability to all your creatures isn't better than giving them +1/+1. But this might prove to be a nightmare when red jumps in on the game. Oh, hold it... we've seen something similar with Field Surgeon. Okay, now I can stop worrying about it.
Oh, so we have. Reminds me of Resplendent Mentor which is similar but different.
