- Moved from Rare to Uncommon
- Power and toughness changed from 2+/2+ to 2/2. Now grants as a tribal bonus to the creature, as opposed to p/t setting.
Aysen Crusader used to get a power and toughness boost via the 'Hero' creature type, of which there were two, and neither of them were in Homelands. The Great Creature Type Update switched this card from funky to fresh, by giving it two very relevant creature types to play with. It's very easy to make this a 5/5 on round four. If Wizards doesn't think that's too powerful, then neither do I.
If you'd "rather the cards be as modern as possible first, with as few changes as possible second", then this should probably not have that painfully cramped P/T box, and instead be a 2/2 with "CARDNAME gets +1/+1 for each Soldier and/or Warrior you control."

Huh. Looking through the skeleton, I find that there are no Soldiers in the set and almost no Warriors. Guess I'll have to work on that, too.
