Original Card: Abbey Gargoyle
I'm pretty sure we can make a 3/4 flying angel in uncommon for . I don't think this is too much of a jump from there.
Also, I'm reminded that I need to create an expansion symbol. And soon, before I waste too much time duplicating work over here.
You probably also want to fix the painfully large line breaks between quotations and attributions.
This is an amusing project, anyway. I'm interested what you're going to do after the first pass: drafting? Sealed? Just agree with your casual group that it's okay to print proxies and use this version of all Homelands cards in whatever casual decks you like?
Ah, you're right. There's a learning curve to deal with, I suppose.
I think part of the reason why most people don't get this project off the ground is because they get these images of what they want to do with the cards afterwards, and that stops them from finishing the project. So my first goal is to just complete it. Having done that, I'll pat myself on the back.
Goal two is to make it draftable, which is going to be a trick. There's a lot of little changes that need to be made, and I can already see a lot of cards moving out of red, so it's going to be tricky to balance all the numbers and ensure the draft itself is fun. But doable.
Just between you and me, I'd like to follow this set up with "Fallen Empires Restored" and "The Dark Restored" and turn the whole thing into a draft block. But that's too far down the road to really contemplate.
Whether I can convince my friends it's okay to substitute cards in Homelands Restored for Commander cards... well, I guess that's a group by group thing. Oddly, a small minority of costs on a few cards need to be increased. Memory Lapse, for example, should really cost . Apocalypse Chime, almost ironically, needs to be increased too. and is fine when it gets rid of a bunch of bad cards. But if the cards in Homelands Restored are actually good, then that's too cheap.
