I worry that this is too easy to break. What if it tied the 2 abilities together, e.g. "{0}: Discard a card and sacrifice a permanent."

I can see it being simple to exploit, especially in the case of dredge, but the beauty of the card is in its wording and how basic yet unique it truly is. Adding an activated ability to it may damage the elegance of the card.
