Making this common is rather aggressive. Elite Vanguard is usually uncommon (and it used to be rare: Savannah Lions). I think white could perhaps get a vanilla 2/1 for {w} at common, but going better than that is possibly a bit excessive.

Of course, you can't easily just bump the cost up because then you end up with Youthful Knight.

True, the reason why it was at 1CC was to make it good with Recovery.
