A trivial tweak on Panic Attack. Can use the same tokens as all the other Thopter-makers, because Wizards don't worry about printing haste on tokens - Goblin Assault was in packs with non-hasty Goblin tokens.
Pulled up to uncommon because there's a lot of damage-dealing at common, and no blocker-prevention. New Aerial Chaos will stop some creatures blocking.
Changed so that the second, bonus, basic land goes into your hand. Which means it can be Cultivate/Kodama's Reach for one mana cheaper, which is still pretty good, but not excessive.
Or "Creatures with flying get -6/-6" :) I'm not sure if you need to avoid the rules-awkwardness of "Whenever a creature has flying, destroy it" or revel in it :)
It seems fine to me. I agree I generally want a large trample creature or a source of repeatable non-tap damage, but I'm definitely happy to have both, and want both at least some of the time.
If you wanted, and the cycle permits, you might be able to tweak the abilities to feel slightly more in sync, eg. matching the power to the damage dealt, or having the damage dealt when attacking, although I'm not sure.
I agree it's fine as a rare/mythic (and agree it doesn't need the "as long as you control this" restriction).
Very tentative idea for the Rampant Growth effect for this set. Not sure if it's too good: getting an Explosive Vegetation for 2 mana is quite a benefit, and people often play artifacts on the first 2-3 turns.
I'd like to name this cycle after a cycle of rare legends, something like "Lesthan's Call" and suchlike. Wizards haven't done one of those cycles since they've been printing planeswalkers, though, because they'd rather their planeswalkers become the iconic characters things are named after (as in the Ajani's Mantra cycle and the Ajani's Pridemate cycle). I do have five planeswalkers planned for the block, but only two in this first set - the other three are later in the block, so that's not a great option.
So I might just name this cycle after legends anyway, and let the planeswalkers have their own associated cards later. I've already got legends in black, blue and green; just need red and white, and several of the white rare creatures could be easily made into a legend.
Similar to Outcast Magesmith from Sienira's Facets, but even more relevant in this set.
Moved to mythic because this kind of repeatable gain-control hasn't been done before, to distinguish from Buccaneer of the Air, and to free up a rare blue creature slot.
Somewhat odd combination of size and ability is motivated by the needs of the remaining red rare creature slot. Does it seem too odd?
Except 3/1 was a bit much for 1 mana even on a defender - compare Cinder Wall. Taken down to 2/1.
A version of Relic Barrier that's more useful against connectors and equipment. "You may" tap the artifact because if it's got a bunch of connectors on it, you may not want to trigger its "becomes tapped" abilities!
