This seems way too efficient at common.
Drawing and then discarding isn't really red. I'd template this as....
As an additional cost to cast Light the Way, sacrifice a creature and discard a card. Draw two cards. Light the Way deals 2 damage to target opponent.
... Effect is really weak at the moment though as it puts you down in cards and isn't very efficient.
This is fairly pushed as LD goes. I'd expect to regularly see it played in limited, at least out of peoples side boards. Its possible it's main deck able if there are enough X/1s in the format.
Why doesn't this just always give trample? Card would be simpler and virtually equivalent.
When its night, this card is exactly equivalent to Veiled Mamba
This is very very efficient as commons go.
Why does this care about whether or not you discarded a card? Is "discard matters" a thing in this set?
This probably shouldn't be at common.
The fact that this lets you keep buying back the same trap is going to make limited very repetitive. In addition, you are going through a lot of work to make this not seem like a repeatable ability. I'd recommend scrapping the current card text and just using the simpler...
"2U, T: Search your library for a Trap card and put it into your hand."
Mana cost may need to be adjusted of course.
The night side isn't at all blue mechanically. The Night side also seems out of place given it has a fairly aggressive ability.
Needs a rarity
Salvage seems like an inappropriate word for this. Maybe something like "Soulsteel"? Salvage immediately beings to mind graveyard shenanigans a la Golgari.
Missing a rarity
Why is the life gain trigger a "may"? There is no good reason and it would make MTGO experience worse.
Divine verdict costs 3W. If you want a version that costs 2W, you need to come up with a new name.
Night side should probably just be an 0/4 vanilla
