The named token seems odd for an uncommon, as named tokens are few and far between. Maybe have it enter the battlefield with a salve counter (also helps surgelands, I think a counters matter subtheme could be fun) and remove a salve counter to regen target creature?

What if he required the soldiers to do something to get a boost? Maybe something like "Whenever a Soldier creature you control attacks or blocks, put a +1/+1 counter on that creature" on a 2/2 first strike for with the etb fetch ability. Would also go nicely with new lands (Surgelands?).
