  This ability should be a trigger, i.e. "When you spend this mana to cast a spell, it becomes virtual." Conversely, virtual should be a replacement effect, i.e. "If a virtual card would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, exile it instead."

  Tokens cease to exist when they leave the battlefield, so it doesn't matter where they go. This adds a lot of complexity for negligible gain.
