Personally, I think this would make a better hybrid effect (along the lines of Unmake) than Midnight Thopting.
Evanesce (Common) Instant Exile target creature.
I do not like the overlap between this and Sheriff's Warning. They should cover slightly different targets, and between the two I think Excoriate should change before the other one. How about a Smite the monstrous variant?
Exile/Destroy target creature with power greater than or equal to it's toughness.
I agree with Grim, I'd rather go with Sheriff's Warning and some version of Smite the monstrous over this or evanesce.
The way I see it there are a couple of directions we could go,
Totally Not Trostani's Judgment
Sorcery [C]
Exile target creature, then put a colorless 1/1 Thopter creature token with flying onto the battlefield.
OR
Totally Not Iona's Judgment
Sorcery [C]
Exile target creature or artifact.
OR
Smite the Monstrous
I also sugest Divine Verdict, which would keep the entry essentially the same
How about an Afterlife / Crib Swap riff?
Transmogrify (Common)
2W
Instant
Destroy target creature. It can't be regenerated. Its controller puts a 1/1 colorless Thopter artifact creature token with flying onto the battlefield.
I think that's rather better than common removal normally is these days. Afterlife and Crib Swap are uncommon.
I've been wondering, what's up with giving white exiles all of a sudden? White has exile in BFZ and OGW for the sole reason of indestructibility and eldrazis floating around. In our set, we have no reason for white to banish at will. Especially at common.
Oh they are uncommon. I always thought the Mirage printing was common. Maybe it could be an uncommon card then.
@Volvary Good point. Theros block also had a significant amount of exiling, but that was due (I believe) to the gods and Whip of Erebos.
This was here to play on the taping theme of the set, but its similarities to Sheriff's Warning are duly noted.
I am going to put Divine Verdict in for now as a place holder. Since Clock In is now a sorcery this should become an instant, and 4 is about the right price for it. Feel free to continue discussing alternatives.
Changed from Excoriate to Divine Verdict
