3/1 -> 2/1
Made it simpler.
fixed oracle wording
This wording is still pretty confusing, especially for a common.
I think it's fine. Remember these are "duel decks" not intended to come out of boosters, so rarity doesn't mean quite the same thing (though it's not irrelevant either).
I don't know what the wording was before, but couldn't the current wording be shortened to "If ~ dies while attacking,..."
Then it wouldn't be a triggered ability. This is the correct template according to Cathedral Membrane.
Yes, I hate it. I agree with Doombringer, kind of confusing. Before, it was simply "When ~ dies while it's attacking...", but someone pointed out that Cathedral Membrane is the correct templating and now it's unintuitively crap. Does anyone have any suggestions on this?
I can replace it with "When ~ dies, if it attacked this turn..." which is not the same but similar enough, and avoids two confusing clauses.
This card needs changing... Ok alternate wording time: Whenever CARDNAME attacks, it gains "When it dies, each opponent loses 4 life." until end of turn.
OR
CARDNAME cant block. When CARDNAME dies during combat, each opponent loses 4 life.
OR
Sacrifice CARDNAME: Each opponent loses 4 life. Activate this ability only if CARDNAME is blocked.
Or just ignore the templating team and use the intuitive wording?
If you can say "when ~ is put into the graveyard during combat" I don't see why you can't say "when ~ dies while attacking" just the same way.
Ok final wording suggestion: "When CARDNAME dies, if its attacking, defending player loses 4 life."
Actually looking at Avacyn's Collar makes me think this should be worded: "When CARDNAME dies, if it was attacking, defending player loses 4 life."
Before:
Infested Terran

Creature - Zerg Soldier [c]
When Infested Terran dies, if it attacked this turn, target opponent loses 3 life.

3/1->2/1
2/1 -> 3/1. before: When ~ dies, if it was attacking, defending player discards two cards
2B 3/1 -> 1B 2/1
before: When ~ becomes blocked, sacrifice it and defending player discards two cards.. Now: Black cat
2/1 -> 1/1
So close to a functional reprint of Black Cat. It's target player instead of target opponent :)
