See Arcbound Worker. Not strictly better, obviously since counters and artifact tokens synergize with different cards.

  • +1/+1 base p/t boost works as though the Equipment has the static ability "Equipped/enchanted/etc. creature gets +1/+1."
  • This is a static ability that creates a replacement effect as the creature enters the battlefield. The creature enters the battlefield and the appropriate token gets created and becomes attached to it before SBAs are checked.
  • The token has no inherent ability to equip itself, but the environment can provide some or use the artifacts otherwise.
  • The tokens name is "Equipment", of course.
  • I went with no targets on the death trigger as it feels more intuitive to me. Your opponent won't be able to tell where the token goes to keep it from being attached to anything.

More interestingly is using this to move some other piece of equipment. So that's a nice gimmick to have.

I 'unno. Modular was a massive pain in the ass; where basically everything was interchangable forever and it was all a huge amorphious blob of "I have X power on the board, and X is monotonically increasing" unless you could wrath it.

Similarly - in limited amounts; this is a very cool card. Lots of similar things would, however, be most un-fun to face.

Downside - this could leave the battlefield littered with equipment tokens that have no in-built way of attaching to anything but which you can't just tidy up because they count for metalcraft and could be equipped by a lion and...

Which is why I don't propose this as a keyword ability. I would want to have other cards interactwith the tokens differently.

Put them next to the energy counters that you get for playing Glimmer of Genius without way to spend the energy and the creature enchanted with Pacifism when no deck has enchantment removal or other ways to resolve the situation... it happens.

But this is certainly meant for an environment with some artifact sacrifice outlets that wouldn't mind pairing up with this card even if the death trigger was removed etc.

Seems like that covers all the bases, then. Nifty. Especially with the tech to ensure that the token in the pack is the right one.
