I have a button! It's ALWAYS a good idea to push the button!
I admit, I think I like "Prevent 2, Gain 3" a little better, but that may be because I like the idea of comparing this card to Sanctum Custodian. That's a pretty weird reason, I admit. But, damage prevention is roughly as good as life gain, and you don't have to damage prevent every turn. It would be nice if this guy didn't bury Timmy every time he played it. Because, if I know Timmy, he will activate this thing whether or not its a good idea...
This guy (and I bet his name gets laughed at by the other superheroes) is going to make for some very long games.
Except for games with poison, I guess.
Kinda surprised he didn't already exist' but wizards seem to not like lifegain any more.
Yeah, that's pretty cool. Obvious space, but I'd never thought of it. In fact, it may almost be too good in anti-aggro decks, but then, I might have thought the same about Orcish Artillery in aggro decks, and that definitely wasn't, so it's probably about right.
Heehee. Nice mirror to Orcish Artillery. Should perhaps be able to prevent damage as well.
Yeah, I'd like see more of Black's take on White's removal like Damnation is to Wrath of God.
I think it's tripping alarm bells more because it doesn't exist. It certainly doesn't sound "unsafe at any speed", since a 7cc, 7/7 that tapped to make a player lose 4 life wouldn't be perceived as very strong. Though, I admit, Sorcery speed would help make this feel more normal.
You know, it's kind of funny. For this level of removal, players have been trained to go to white. Black's supposed to be the #1 creature removal color, but it usually doesn't have the best creature removal in the game. I don't know if that's fair...
Exile rather than bury and allowed to hit artifacts AND black? Ok, it's got that nasty little toughness thing; but the other thing that had that cost
I'm pretty sure.
I suppose it is strictly better than Vendetta, but Idk. Also, the power level makes it uncommon, so... :D
V: Good point, it'd have to be sorcery speed. That's perfectly doable though.
jmg: I'm not sure. It tripped my alarm bells. It might be printable, but it does feel pretty harsh.
Attacking creatures, even evasive ones, feel a lot less unfair than "Hah, you just get hit for 20%" Though I agree, the unblockable creature of pure evil would probably win just as many games.
Is "Target player loses 4 life" unfair? You could have just swung with your creature. a 2/3 Unblockable, Vigilance creature would be better most of the time. That costs about 4cc.
Instant-speed discard is kinda powerful lockdown though.
Hmm. I agree "Target player loses 4 life" would be a bit excessive. What about "Target player reveals 4 cards from his or her hand, you choose one of them, and that player discards that card"?
I see the problem: your Front Page lists this as being in the "Novice" cycle, which are generally quite underwhelming if you don't have the match. I mean, green gets a 2/2 for
, and green is a colour that most definitely does get 2/2 for
with a significant upside. It seemed very odd for green to only get a Gray Ogre when black got a Grizzly Bears. But actually, the problem is just that the front page shows this in the wrong cycle.
...Mmm, I think I'd still call it Vendetta++. What's interesting is that I'd never noticed Vendetta was a black StP. I'd always thought of Vendetta as demonstrating the cost of advantages/disadvantages on a removal spell, as part of the triplet Vendetta, Dark Banishing, Sever Soul.
Yes, but I couldn't think of another way to do it for black that was still fair. :/
I wanted each creature to have a bear that got a bonus from playing other creatures of the same color. I also want the creatures in this set to be really powerful and aggressive. It is suppose to be an arena after all.
You're right. Forgot about that one. Haha.
