Creature – Eye Wizard
Flying, Yearn 6 (Yetknowl Archeye ETBs with six -1/-1 counters on it.)
At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a -1/-1 counter from Yetknowl Archeye
Whenever Yetknowl Archeye deals combat damage to a player, you may cast a spell from your hand with converted mana cost less than or equal to the number of -1/-1 counters on Yetknowl Archeye without paying it's mana cost.

Creature – Human Druid
Yearn X
{1}{g}, {t}, Remove a -1/-1 counter from Yeernott Meditator: Put a Forest card from your hand onto the battlefield tapped. Green creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn.

Creature – Treefolk
Trample, Yearn 4 (Yeernott Waverwillow ETBs with four -1/-1 counters on it.)
{3}{g}: Remove all -1/-1 counters from Yeernott Waverwillow. Add that much {g}
It sways back and forth, it's calm beat in tune with the worlds.

Creature – Human Mystic
Yearn 3 (Wan-Watiwan Liberator ETBs with three -1/-1 counters on it.)
Whenever another creature you control attacks, you may pay {x}, where X is equal to it's converted mana cost plus two. If you do, discard a card. When you do, add mana equal to the converted mana cost of that card.
4/4

On Never-To-Be:

I originally had vitenka's idea. I changed it because I thought it would require too many activations to get your beater. But yeah i like it more anyway.

On Never-To-Be:

Vitenka's suggestion is best, but even "Pay XX life: remove X counters" works (but also sucks)

On Never-To-Be:

Given there's no tap or anything; why not just make it:

Pay 2 life: Remove a -1/-1 counter from ~

On Yeernott Meditator:

I always found memory issues to be annoying to design around

lmao just have a bigger brain exdee

On Yeernott Meditator:

Ugh, conFUsing. Comes into play as X+1/X+1 with X -1/-1 counters on it.

So it's a 1/1. Then you remove the -1/-1 from it, and... well, I guess it's SUPPOSED to be "Drop a forest, green creatures get +1/+1 UEOT" but it isn't, since lands are colourless. But that's an incredibl minor concern compared to "How the heck do you remember what X is? How do I tell the difference between this cast for 4, and this cast for 5 but has been used one? They're different sizes, but have the same number of counters on them!"

That confusion can be resolved; but should be avoided if posisble, and made rare+ when not; so that we don't have to put up with it unless we really want to.

On Yeernott Meditator:

How does this work?
