Mechanics | About this set

The goal of this set was at first to guess what Muraganda, the prehistoric plane, would look like. However, while green likes dinosaurs and red likes volcanoes and meteors, the other colors are a bit hard to define about how they relate to prehistory.

I figured white could be about the cradle of humanity, cavemens and first societies, black could be about the extinctions and blue about evolution, but this feels a bit shallow.

Then I heard about a mechanic called Ruin, which allows you to transform lands to colorless deserts. Why is this resource still untapped (excuse the pun) by current Magic cards? In some dire situations, you might catch a wizard sacrificing a land, but they don't abuse it. Maybe there is a rule that prevents them to draw too much energy from lands.

This set takes place before this rule existed. The first planeswalkers grew very powerful, but at the ultimate cost of rendering the landscapes around them lifeless.

The first mens tried it, but the first blue and black mages abused it, putting the future of the plane in a precarious situation...
