Haunting Vision has a color indicator that works just fine.

Yep, I was able to add the colour indicator to Theoretical Entomologist by simply checking the "Show colour indicator" checkbox in the moon-side edit box. I'm pretty sure we'd have noticed if this were a general bug, because dude1818 has an entire cardset dedicated to DFCs with a variety of colour indicators (e.g. Resilient Troll).

What did you do to try to turn on the colour indicator? How would you expect this to work, and where would you expect the control to be? If it's confusing or hard to find, I'd like to make it easier.

I tried turning on the color indicator on the sun side :x

I didn't even realise there was a separate one for the moon side. Also, why is Giant Ichneumonoid's color indicator gold and not blue-black-red-green?

Four-color frames don't exist, and the color indicator is based off of that.

Hálian: ...Are you aware that the only printed cards that include colour indicators so far are the moon sides of DFCs?

As for why it's just gold: It's because Wizards haven't printed colour indicators for any gold combination except black-green so far. So I've had to make them all up, and I got bored after 2 and 5 colours.

It does make sense for there to be 3- and 4-colour colour indicators (see the Oracle text for Transguild Courier); it's just that I haven't made them up yet.

not actually a bug

Alex, that's not true. Dryad Arbor has a color indicator in From the Vault: Realms.

I thought there was an actual printed dfc with a gold indicator was the reason you went with that rather than a swirl.

MSE just stacks more diagonal stripes in the color indicator.

@Link: Heh, OK.

@Vitenka: Nope. My ((C16264)) CI is completely original. (It's also not very sensible really.)

Interesting that V thinks swirl, Hálian says MSE uses stripes, where my default for a CI with 5 sections would be a pie with five 72° segments.

Looking at MSE's four- and five-color CIs, a Color Pie would probably be the most sensible way forward. ;)
