I honestly don't think that Mystic Snake needs to be powercreeped. Looks like it to this day sees play in the community created "premodern" format.

Well, I guess this could push the card (thought obviously in a different color pair) to be modern-playable or so uh, dunno. I imagine it would be contending with Spell Queller.
