Can anyone guess the inspiration?

Well, what springs into my mind is "It's such fun to hum a happy working song!", but I doubt that's what you were thinking of...

Nope. I'll give a hint.

LORD OF THE RINGS!!!!!! That one song that whats-his-face sings when he's leaving his home to kill that one schmuck!!! Cthulhu, I think his name is!! And his right hand man, Darth Vader!! On planet Uranus!! Discovered by Columbus, colonized by Washington, and enslaved by Lincoln, only to be freed by a giant jelly sandwich!!! Yes, it's so fun to be a historian with an absurdist sense of humor.

Sings the Walking Song, in a death metal voice.

BTW, I wrote a song called "Walking Man," FWIW. It's a folk song, not a metal song, so...

EDIT: Okay, how many friggin asterisks do I need?!? I'm runnin' out of ink on my screen here!!!
